Crafting Goods from Parchment
Crafting goods from parchment can involve many intricate steps, including tracing the required pattern with white or coloured ink, embossing to create a raised effect, stippling, perforating, colouring and cutting. Parchment craft is often seen in lamp shades, small decorative boxes, wall hangings and more.
Derived from the leather processing of goat and lamb, the parchment has existed since ancient times being used for writing on.
At the beginning of the Twentieth centuryit was also used as a valuable coating material for wall panels and furniture.
Naturally varied by color and texture, it is applied on numerous types of wood, glass and polycarbonate, in plain or woven.
Its semi-transparency allows it to be used for the production of lamps and furniture elements which are backlit.
